VINTAGE: TAMAR 2020 is produced and hosted by members of the not-for-profit Association, Tamar Valley Wine Route Inc.
Tamar Valley Wine is a wine tourism experience based on a 170km journey around the diverse landscapes of the Tamar Valley in northern Tasmania. It is also a member based organisation with a 25 year history starting with a series of road signs which guide visitors around a map to the cellar doors at Relbia and around both the West and East sides of the Tamar estuary. And from May 2020 Tamar Valley Wine will become the producer and host of the annual Festival VINTAGE: TAMAR.
The Tamar Valley is more and more taking its rightful place in the world of wine as a region which produces exceptional cool climate table wines along with world-class sparkling. The journey around the cellar doors exposes wine lovers to a unique diversity, as it includes smaller, boutique style vineyards right up to high production wineries driven by celebrity winemakers, and what can only be called vast wine enterprises with sophisticated hospitality venues. There are quite a few strongly recognisable wine brands as well as lesser known brands just waiting to be discovered. All feature friendly cellar doors set in picturesque vineyards making Tamar Valley Wine highly accessible to the public.
There is also a genuine striving to produce a premium quality product. The result of this effort, skill and investment has seen many accolades, including numerous wine awards, medals, trophies for the wine as well as recognition from the tourism industry. More importantly, for most, one visit is not enough, with many returning to the region to continue the conversations, like meeting up with old friends. You are invited to OPEN A CONVERSATION in the Tamar Valley.
In over forty years working in the wine industry in the Tamar Valley I have seen extraordinary growth in plantings, wine production and hospitality offerings in the region. I am very happy to see that Tamar Valley Wine will host a weekend festival next year (29-31 May) which will showcase all that is great about our region, the landscapes, the terroir, the knowledge and skills of the vigerons as well as other talented locals. I commend it to you as a "not to be missed event".
